Argument Maps

Argument maps show the structure of each side’s case — main arguments, sub-arguments, supporting facts, and legal authorities. Garry generates one map for your side and one for the counterparty.

Each argument is classified as:

  • Legal — based on legal rules, precedent, or statutory interpretation
  • Factual — based on events, evidence, or factual claims
  • Mixed — combines legal and factual reasoning

Arguments are displayed as a structured hierarchy:

  • Main arguments at the top level — the core positions each side takes
  • Sub-arguments branching off — supporting reasoning
  • Supporting facts — specific evidence or factual claims cited
  • Legal authorities — cases, statutes, and doctrine referenced

Click any argument to expand its detail view, showing:

  • Full text of the argument
  • Classification (legal/factual/mixed)
  • Supporting evidence and authorities
  • Whether the other side has responded to it (linked to coverage analysis)

Each argument in the map links to its coverage status — see Coverage Analysis to understand which arguments are addressed, partially addressed, or ignored by the other side.
