Argument Maps
What are Argument Maps?
Section titled “What are Argument Maps?”Argument maps show the structure of each side’s case — main arguments, sub-arguments, supporting facts, and legal authorities. Garry generates one map for your side and one for the counterparty.
Structure
Section titled “Structure”Each argument is classified as:
- Legal — based on legal rules, precedent, or statutory interpretation
- Factual — based on events, evidence, or factual claims
- Mixed — combines legal and factual reasoning
Reading the Map
Section titled “Reading the Map”Arguments are displayed as a structured hierarchy:
- Main arguments at the top level — the core positions each side takes
- Sub-arguments branching off — supporting reasoning
- Supporting facts — specific evidence or factual claims cited
- Legal authorities — cases, statutes, and doctrine referenced
Navigating
Section titled “Navigating”Click any argument to expand its detail view, showing:
- Full text of the argument
- Classification (legal/factual/mixed)
- Supporting evidence and authorities
- Whether the other side has responded to it (linked to coverage analysis)
Using with Coverage Analysis
Section titled “Using with Coverage Analysis”Each argument in the map links to its coverage status — see Coverage Analysis to understand which arguments are addressed, partially addressed, or ignored by the other side.
