Relationships
Relationships track how players in your case are connected — who hired whom, who communicated with whom, contractual ties, legal representation, and more.
Creating Relationships
Section titled “Creating Relationships”- Open the Data tab in your timeline
- Navigate to the Relations table
- Click Add Relationship
- Select:
- From: The originating player
- To: The receiving player
- Type: The nature of the connection (e.g., “represented by”, “contracted with”, “employed by”)
- Save
Relationships are also created automatically when Thea extracts events from documents and detects interactions between players.
Viewing Relationships
Section titled “Viewing Relationships”Relationships appear in two places:
- Data tab → Relations table: Full list with from/to players and relationship type
- Network View: Visual force-directed graph showing all connections (see Network View)
Relationship Types
Section titled “Relationship Types”Common relationship types in legal timelines:
- Legal representation: “represented by”, “counsel for”
- Employment: “employed by”, “director of”
- Contractual: “contracted with”, “supplier to”
- Communication: “corresponded with”, “notified”
- Corporate: “subsidiary of”, “shareholder in”
You can use any label — relationships are free-text.
Editing and Deleting
Section titled “Editing and Deleting”- Click a relationship in the Relations table to edit
- Use the delete button to remove a relationship
- Changes are reflected immediately in the Network View
